Abstract Information: Are you an evaluator working with international higher education and research capacity strengthening projects, programs, or funders? Do you have questions about or experiences with international higher education partnerships? Are you interested in being in community with colleagues who want to understand how to strengthen the capacity for research and innovation in institutions across the globe? If so, attend this birds of a feather gathering. Come share your stories of success and challenge, learn from others, and discuss your ideas about how to leverage our collective stories to move the community forward.
Relevance Statement: This birds of a feather session is a space for those engaged in monitoring, evaluating, researching and learning (MERL) in international higher education and research capacity strengthening projects to gather, share stories, learn from one another, and build community. This session will be relevant to all of those who work with MERL activities and data in the contexts of international partnerships for strengthening the capacity of institutions of higher education and research. This conversation is relevant to domestic and global evaluators as the groundwork is already laid to share and aggregate our monitoring and evaluation data. Our community is positioned to be able to tell more impactful stories about our work. For this session, we will be prepared to discuss some emerging challenges and opportunities for our community. Some proposed discussion prompts include: • What are the opportunities and challenges for MERL as we work toward strengthening local capacity and enhancing local control of higher education and research development? How can we work together to realize these opportunities and overcome any challenges? • How can we leverage shared data standards and architecture to enhance learning and impactful storytelling? • How does your MERL team include community stakeholders' voices in building data architecture and sharing findings?
