Bringing Your Data to Life: Using Interactive Dashboards for Storytelling

Abstract Information: In today's data-driven world, organizations have access to vast amounts of data. However, simply presenting data in a raw format can often leave audiences overwhelmed and disengaged. In this presentation, we will explore how interactive dashboards can be used to bring your data to life and tell a compelling story. Dashboards have become ubiquitous with reporting of data and with a topic as dense as programmatic evaluation, and any tool that can aid the evaluators efforts is most welcome. Within dashboard design, a concept known as storyboarding is commonly used to develop a prototype. In this ignite presentation, audience will gain knowledge on basic principles of efficient dashboarding, which will help them design useful, engaging, and actionable dashboards. We will begin by discussing the benefits of interactive dashboards, including their ability to provide real-time insights, support decision-making, and foster collaboration. We will then move on to the key principles of effective data visualization and storytelling, such as understanding your audience, focusing on key messages, and using appropriate visualizations. Using examples and case studies from Microsoft PowerBI, we will demonstrate how interactive dashboards can be used to tell a story and communicate complex information in a way that is engaging, informative, and actionable. We will also provide practical tips and best practices for designing and building effective dashboards, including selecting the right data, creating intuitive navigation, and designing for mobile devices.
