168 - Whose story is it anyway?: An evaluation of hospital-based technology with multiple stakeholders

Abstract Information: 
Hospitals serve two million victims of interpersonal violence per year and may also be the only place survivors seek formal services in the aftermath of violence. Other formal systems, such as law enforcement or victim services, can have little or inconsistent communication with hospitals despite the overlap among those they interact with who experience violence. To address this problem a web-based platform for forensic examination documentation and immediate electronic communication of reports of non-accidental interpersonal injury was piloted in 4 California counties. The research team conducted an implementation evaluation using qualitative interviews and quantitative metrics from the platform system. During this session presenters will discuss the original design centering victim support and the shift towards quality control and accountability for platform users. Presenters will use evaluation findings to discuss the ways in which changing perspectives gave meaning to evaluation outcomes and the perspectives that were decentralized.
