Behavioral Health Prevention Scientist
RTI International, North Carolina, United States
Dr. Stefany Ramos is a behavioral health prevention scientist. Her work focuses on community and interpersonal violence prevention, mental health promotion, and developing methods for population-level impact research and evaluation. Her projects explore how public systems can better serve and engage historically marginalized communities to improve their environment and wellbeing. She has extensive training and experience in public policy research and analysis, program impact and implementation evaluation, secondary data analysis, legislative epidemiology, and quasi-experimental design. Her studies employ community-based participatory methods, complexity and dynamic systems science, econometric and time-series analyses, as well as qualitative methods. Before pursuing her doctoral degree, she spent over a decade conducting program evaluation and progress monitoring for a drop-out prevention program where she learned the art of community engagement, building partnerships, and sharing data. Before that, she taught at a Head Start in South Philadelphia working hand in hand with families and dedicated support staff. Those experiences as a practitioner continue to guide her research.
