Senior Manager, Monitoring and Evaluation Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, Qatar
An independent evaluation commissioned in 2022 to mark the decade of EAC impact confirms that using non-conventional approaches like storytelling in outcome harvesting can add value, including increased engagement and participation of stakeholders, richer and more nuanced data, better interpretation and understanding, greater insight and learning, and increased ownership of process and evaluation findings. In particular, storytelling helped the stakeholders share their experiences and perspectives in a more creative and engaging way, making it easier to interpret some complex outcomes. Furthermore, storytelling surfaced some insights and learning that may not have been captured through traditional methods. This presentation demonstrates that using non-conventional approaches such as capturing personal narratives, anecdotes, case studies, and most-significant change stories provided a more holistic and meaningful understanding of the harvested outcomes of the EAC program. It also identified potential avenues for further stakeholder engagement and support at the local, national, and global levels.
