George Mesthos is a Foreign Service Officer working on the Europe Team in the Department of State’s Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations Office of Western Hemisphere and Europe and Eurasia Affairs (CSO/WHA-EUR). After joining the Foreign Service in 2014, he served overseas as Cultural Affairs Officer for Education and Exchange Programs at U.S. Embassy Dhaka, Bangladesh and Vice Consul at U.S. Consulate General Florence, Italy. In Washington, George has served multiple roles at CSO as well as in the Front Office of the Bureau of International Organization Affairs. George earned his Bachelor’s degree in Classics with Honors from Brown University, and his Master’s Degree in Southeast European Studies from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece on a Fulbright Fellowship. He worked as a reporter predominately for CBS Radio before joining the Department.
