Natalie De Sole (she/her) started Rooted-Growth to coach mission-driven organizations to develop, process, and use evidence. She aims to build growth mindsets and considers a social justice lens when triangulating data. She deeply values how context, power, history, and opportunities affect one’s life. Rooted-Growth's current projects focus on youth empowerment, social and emotional learning, and career self-efficacy in Detroit and Denver. Natalie embraces a community-based participatory research approach, allowing participants to engage, frame the design, and co-interpret the evaluations. She is white, half-Coloradoan and half-Calabrese (Southern Italian), and grew up in Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, and Zimbabwe. Over the years, the spectrum of evaluation clients included grassroots organizations, nonprofits, institutions, universities, and foundations in diverse places such as Phuthaditjhaba/Pretoria, Accra, rural Ethiopia (virtual), Detroit, and rural Colorado. Natalie’s B.A. is from Grinnell College, her evaluation-focused MSW is from the University of Michigan, and she holds an adult teaching certificate from the Association of College and University Educators. She lives with her husband and dog in Lafayette, CO, and enjoys hiking, learning, and goofing off with loved ones.
