As the Assistant Director of Program Evaluation at the Boston University Clinical & Translational Science Institute (CTSI), Kayla J. Kuhfeldt, MPH leads the CTSI evaluation team in their continuous quality improvement processes and evaluation plans and activities. Her expertise is in community assessment, program design, implementation, and evaluation, applied research methodology, and participatory evaluation approaches. She is experienced in working with global stakeholders to help evaluate programs, identify gaps, and find ways to improve systems and policies. She is certified in Lean Methods and Six Sigma used in continuous quality improvement processes. Kayla's current interests include infectious diseases, reducing global disease burdens, HIV/AIDS program planning, implementation and evaluation, along with improving systems that perpetuate inequity and inequalities in healthcare systems globally.
Kayla is beginning her term as the program chair of the Translational Research Evaluation topical interest group of the American Evaluation Association in 2023. Kayla also serves as a mentor for multiple graduate students in the Boston University School of Public Health's Alumni Mentorship Program to provide career and professional development to BUSPH alumni and graduate students. She is dedicated to help foster professional growth for current and future public health practitioners.
