Evaluation Officer
UN World Food Programme, United States
Ms Jennifer Kanemuka Hamoonga Sakwiya is a Zambian national and an M&E professional working for the World Food Programme Regional Bureau for Southern Africa in Johannesburg as an Evaluation Officer since 2019. She is a member of the South African Monitoring and Evaluation Association (SAMEA). She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration. Jennifer worked for World Food Programme since 2005 in various capacities, including monitoring and evaluation. The World Food Programme introduced her to evaluation work in 2018, which she thoroughly enjoys as she appreciates how evaluation evidence is critical to organizational learning, growth and accountability.
Jennifer is currently managing an evaluation on technical assistance and refugee support in Angola. She has previously managed a mid-term evaluation of a country programme covering resilience, disaster risk management, nutrition, home grown school meals and market support for smallholder farmers in Zambia, an evaluation of a rural resilience initiative in Zimbabwe and a regional evaluation on market development activities and food systems encompassing six countries namely Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. She has also supported other evaluations in the Southern African region to guarantee quality and credibility while adhering to the norms of independence and impartiality. Jennifer enjoys evaluations work because she sees how evaluation evidence adoption informs policies, strategies, programmes and operations that ultimately impact the lives of marginalized and vulnerable people affected by conflict, hunger and food and nutrition insecurity.
