John F. Akwetey is a professional evaluator with over 12+ years of experience designing, planning, leading, and conducting evaluations. He is pursuing an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Evaluation from Western Michigan University and holds a master’s degree in development Evaluation and Management from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, and a bachelor’s degree in economics and Agribusiness Management from the Central University, Ghana. He is a member of the American Evaluation Association, the United Nations Forward for Food Security, Agriculture & Rural Development (EvalForward), and the Ghana Evaluation Forum.
He recently served as the Evaluation Expert on the Evaluation of USAID Bureau for Resilience and Food Security (USAID/RFS) Functional Strategy to evaluate a series of consecutive and compounding shocks and stressors contributing to a global food crisis, specifically the USAID response to African Swine Fever (2021, led by RFS), the 2021-2022 droughts in the horn of Africa (lead by AFR), and Putin’s war on Ukraine (2022, led by RFS/FTFCT). Prior to the USAID/RFS evaluation, he was a Research Consultant working in collaboration with MERL Tech on a study/research project funded by the Mastercard Foundation. He has also served as a Co-Principal Investigator on the Interim Evaluation of Project REG-19-018: Nudging for Good Project: A.I.-Driven Diagnostics and Behavior Change to Improve Diets and Nutrition, funded by Fondation Bortnar.
