Aaron Soo Ping Chow is a Research Assistant in the Literacy Group at WestEd. Aaron’s work is primarily focused on the research and evaluation of projects/programs related to literacy across the United States, where he leads research design development, data collection and analysis, visualization of findings, report writing, and dissemination. He uses R and Stata for quantitative analysis and Dedoose for qualitative and mixed-methods analysis.
Aaron currently supports a comprehensive evaluation of the Colorado READ Act and acts as the data management lead and a primary analyst for an evaluation of Massachusetts’s K-3 early literacy screening assessment scores. He also leads data management and the quantitative analyses for two EdTech early literacy projects and is a principal investigator for an IES SBIR Phase IB study with an early literacy assessment company that aims to expand the use of automatic speech recognition in their assessment.
Aaron graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2021 with an M.S. in Applied Statistics. At TC, he assisted the SMILE Lab in developing a standardized method for rating how well a mental health intervention has been culturally-adapted for ethnic minority youth. Prior to TC, Aaron received a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Urban Education from the University of Pennsylvania.
