Senior Public Affairs Specialist

Laura Robinson is a Senior Public Affairs specialist at the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), which helps U.S. businesses create jobs through the export of their goods and services for priority infrastructure projects in emerging economies.
Prior to joining USTDA, Ms. Robinson worked for nearly 13 years at the U.S. Department of State, where her roles in Washington included managing of the Department’s China communications effort; planning strategic communications for the Secretary’s travel and major events; serving as the lead press officer on Syria during U.S.-Russia negotiations; driving public diplomacy focused on business, entrepreneurship, investment, and sanctions; and as a desk officer in the Office of Southern African Affairs. Ms. Robinson also served for two years at the U.S. Embassy in Tunis, Tunisia, where her work included facilitating U.S. assistance to rebuild Tunisia’s post-revolution economy and assisting American citizens following an attack on the embassy and evacuation of non-essential personnel. Before her time with the State Department, Ms. Robinson was a Legislative Aide for Small Business in the Office of Senator Maria Cantwell, where she also worked on tax policy, the federal budget, agriculture, and the 2008 financial crisis. Ms. Robinson holds a B.A. in Politics from Pomona College in Claremont, CA.
