Valerie Smith, M.A., serves as Project Manager for the Impact Measurement team at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She focuses on using participatory action approaches and qualitative methodology as a focal point in program improvement. At AFSP, she has led needs assessments that prioritize program staff experiences and community-based approaches to understand how programs can more realistically meet the needs of both those who implement programming and program participants. Her prior work includes extensive qualitative research and evaluation in education and public health.
