Dr. Hernandez, NCSP, NCC, a Professor at the University of the Incarnate Word has completed advanced study in Educational and Clinical Psychology and Curriculum and Instruction. He has held or currently holds public policy, and research appointments (PI and Co-PI) and his academic appointments have been as Professor, Research Professor, Program Coordinator, Department Chair, Associate Dean, and Dean. His principal expertise and experience is in assessment, measurement and evaluation, inquiry methods and design, and qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
His scholarship focuses on measurement and evaluation in psychosocial, health and educational contexts including defining, describing, implementing, and evaluating culturally responsive and community-based and participatory inquiry and practice. He is a strong promoter of standards-based practice and regularly contributes to the review and development of standards for practice that underpin the goals of a “just society,” the value of persons, and well designed and implemented practice in the service of decision-making.
In addition to serving as Professor at the University of the Incarnate Word’s Dreeben School of Education (https://www.uiw.edu/education/faculty-and-staff/directory/hernandez.html), he serves as Director of the AEA Minority Serving Institutions program (https://www.eval.org/Education-Programs/Minority-Serving-Institution-Fellowship), he serves as on the advisory board for the LEEAD program (https://expandingthebench.org/leead/) and he is a member of the international Joint Committee on Standards for Educational Evaluation (https://evaluationstandards.org/).
