Alyssa Na’im is a Research Scientist at the Education Development Center (EDC) where she leads initiatives that build capacity to advance equity and quality in education, particularly science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in formal and informal learning settings. She brings more than 20 years of experience conducting applied research and program evaluation, providing training and technical assistance, and managing projects from initial concept to final implementation. Alyssa is committed to employing culturally responsive and equity-focused practices to support inclusive learning environments for historically underserved students. Her body of work includes multiple evaluations and research projects focused on out-of-school learning and enrichment experiences for youth from groups that have been historically marginalized.
Alyssa is skilled at translating insights and analyses into actionable recommendations for a broad spectrum of stakeholders. She has led or contributed to a number of projects, supporting multi-site, cross-project data collection. She has experience overseeing and assisting with research and evaluation projects from initial design through final reporting, including developing and administering data collection instruments, conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and writing clear and concise summaries, memoranda, and reports.
Alyssa received her masters in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and earned her bachelors in chemistry from Spelman College.
