Raju Tamang is a management graduate with a master’s in public health epidemiology. He is currently the National Lead - Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) in John Snow India Private Limited (JSIPL) India in the MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity (MRITE) project supported by USAID. He is working to drive the success of the project’s monitoring and learning journey in the intervention states.
Raju is an accomplished public health enthusiast with over two decades of experience at the national (India) and international level (Asia and Pacific) in the field of maternal health, family planning, sexual health, immunization, reproductive health, child health, HIV/ AIDS, humanitarian response. He has worked extensively with the Indian government health systems including National Health Mission, National AIDS Control Organization.
Prior to JSIPL, he was heading the MEL portfolio in International Planned Parenthood Federation for the East and South East Asia region based out of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, providing technical support to 25 countries. He has also led the MEL domain in IPPF’s South Asia office provisioning advisory support to 9 countries.
He has been the strategic planning and MERL Lead for projects funded by variety of donors including USAID, DFID, SIDA, EC, BMGF, UNAIDS in Asia and Pacific countries. He is highly skilled in Strategic planning, strategy development, program management and implementation, MEL plans development, data management, data analytics, dashboard development, CLA, data visualization, modelling, commissioning research, MIS development and implementation, data quality assessment, data guidelines and SoPs development.
He is passionate about diverse, equitable, and inclusive evidence-based decision making and is a strong promoter of instilling the culture of data use.
