Jamie Gillespie, Ph.D., is a Research Scholar at the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation at NC State University. Dr. Gillespie leads program evaluations for a number of projects funded by grants from organizations such as the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She also provides qualitative and quantitative research services to a variety of partners, whether for research or for program evaluation. Dr. Gillespie has a longstanding interest in equity in education and is the chair of the Friday Institute’s Equity-Mindedness Committee. Prior to joining the Friday Institute, Jamie worked for over 30 years in public schools in North Carolina, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Maryland. She served as a teacher, program coordinator, Director of Student Services, Director of Secondary Education and Career & Technical Education, and a principal. Dr. Gillespie also worked at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction as a School Transformation Coach, assisting leaders in traditionally low-performing schools in implementing best practices to increase student achievement. Dr. Gillespie earned her Ph.D. in Educational Research and Policy Analysis from North Carolina State University in 2021.
