Valerie Orellana is a Lead Research Associate with more than 15 years of experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting in survey research, program evaluation, and education research studies. For the U.S. Department of Education's (ED's) Region 14 Comprehensive Center, Ms. Orellana leads the evaluation team responsible for collecting and disseminating information about the impact of Region 14's work and measuring project outcomes for building state capacity. She plans and oversees the data collection, analysis, and reporting activities of the evaluation team; develops survey and interview protocols; conducts client interviews and focus groups with project and portfolio leads; calculates GPRA measures for reporting to ED; leads and conducts qualitative analysis of the data in NVivo; and drafts client reports. Ms. Orellana also participates in an Evaluation Work Group convened by ED to develop common measurement tools and approaches across the Comprehensive Centers.
