Associate Director for Program

Dr. Phyllis Ottley is the Associate Director for Program in the Division of Violence Prevention (DVP) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In this role, Dr. Ottley coordinates and provides leadership towards the execution of DVP’s programmatic portfolio. This includes establishing division-wide strategic direction for programmatic activities and supporting the integration of science and program to facilitate data-to-action and research-to-practice feedback loop. Dr. Ottley has extensive experience assessing violence prevention programs, including evaluating the outcomes and impact of primary prevention efforts to prevent violence and promote health. Dr. Ottley received her undergraduate degree from the University of Miami and a Doctorate degree from Columbia University. She has significant public health experience and wide-ranging knowledge in the areas of child and adolescent health and development, adverse childhood experiences, community health, health disparities and health equity.
