Janet Okamoto is the Director of Community Health Evaluation at Susan G. Komen, where she has worked since 2019 to develop, coordinate, and implement evaluation efforts that demonstrate Komen's impact in the community. Dr. Okamoto has a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Arizona State University, and a Master of Public Health and Doctorate in Health Behavior Research from the University of Southern California. She has expertise in social network analysis, particularly as it relates to use in health behavior research and evaluation. Prior to joining Komen, Dr. Okamoto was an assistant professor at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona for seven years. She was a part of the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences (CCaTS) in the Offices of Health Disparities and Community Engaged Research. She was a member of the CCaTS Metrics and Evaluation Board. Dr. Okamoto did her post-doctoral fellowship at the National Cancer Institute, where she focused on evaluation and the study of team science. She led the development and implementation of the evaluation for the Centers for Population Health and Health Disparities (CPHHD) initiative at NCI (initiative included 10 P50 centers), and also worked on studies evaluating the impact of the Transdisciplinary Research in Energetics and Cancer (TREC) Centers and Transdisciplinary Tobacco Use Research Centers (TTURC).
