Dr. Karie L. Morgan is a socio-cultural anthropologist working as a Research Scientist in the Center for Data Management and Translational Research at Michigan Public Health Institute. Her work at MPHI primarily centers on health equity and community engagment. Prior to MPHI, she lived in southern Africa for many years. During that time, Dr. Morgan's work included evaluations of HIV prevention, care, and treatment interventions in Namibia and postdoctoral research at the University of Johannesburg on using history to build community in post-apartheid South Africa. Her PhD research in Namibia aimed to understand the meanings of the German colonial past and Herero genocide for Namibain Ovaherero today.
