Nicolas Uwitonze (MS) is a PhD student (2nd year) in the Dept of Agriculture Leadership and Community Education (ALCE) at Virginia Tech. Nicolas research interests are cuts across Evaluation entrepreneurship in Africa, and Culturally Responsive Evaluation/Made in Africa Evaluation.
Nicolas has educational, training experience in Egypt (Bsc), Switzerland (MS), and the USA and he has over seven years of experience in Rwanda, working with NGO/projects in development where he provided technical expertise in project management, agriculture extension, climate smart agriculture and nutrition sensitive agriculture.
Nicolas's career aspiration is to become an evaluation consultant/entrepreneur. In fact, throughout his carerr, he has been an independent consultant supporting research, consultancy and evaluation related work (e.g: policy, research/grant proposals writing, baseline studies, qualitative & quantitative data collection, data quality management, working with interdisciplinary teams and report writing). While working with Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture (CNFA) in Rwanda implementing a five year "Feed the Future Rwanda Hinga Weze Activity" funded by USAID, Nicolas has had experiencing of being on the side of commissioners of evaluation/ consultancy services where he coordinated the needs assessment of the nation extension system in Rwanda on 2018.
