How can evaluation be a societal intervention? How can evaluation be life-giving? How can evaluation catalyze personal and social transformation? These are questions that have driven BECOME, a movement-building and community transformation organization, since our founding in 2013.
Over the years, we have learned profound lessons about how data and evaluation processes can activate collective power and move organizations and communities to action and change. More recently, we have galvanized collective wisdom along with findings and lessons from three evaluations of leadership development programs for women of color into a book, Becoming Change Makers: The Exquisite Path to Leadership and Liberation for Women of Color. This guide not only demonstrates pathways to becoming Change Makers but also demonstrates how evaluation findings can fuel radical change in people's lives, as it features the transformational paths of 13 women of color leaders.
This presentation will share these incredible lessons learned as well as discuss the journey of using evaluation as a tool for personal and social change. While the findings and book are for and by women of color, they apply to and can help people from all backgrounds step into their potential and power as agents of change.
