Meet the Editors: Learn About the What, Why and How of Peer-Reviewed Evaluation Journals

Abstract Information: What does it take to contribute to scholarly, peer-reviewed evaluation publications? Meet editors from the African Evaluation Journal, American Journal of Evaluation, Canadian Journal of Evaluation, Evaluation & Program Planning, Journal of MultiDisciplinary Evaluation, and New Directions for Evaluation, to learn about the roles and responsibilities of the editors, associate editors, managing editors, and the editorial board, along with what makes each journal distinct. Although each of these journals has its own priorities, and they all generally publish original scholarly papers about the theory, methods, and practice of evaluation. As part of the evidence dissemination enterprise, the journals subject manuscripts to a review process that results in high-quality scholarship being published to improve the knowledge base and practice among its readers. This is a great opportunity to meet some of the leaders in our field. Relevance Statement: Peer-reviewed publications are one means of disseminating evaluation scholarship. This session is an informational, meet-the-authors session; and it may serve as a useful primer to the think tank that Leslie Fierro is organizing regarding the potential transformation of scholarly publications to consider greater inclusivity, across a variety of dimensions.
