The rapid expansion of Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models, chatbots, and generative artificial intelligence has significantly impacted various fields, including evaluation—and by extension, evaluation education and training. These developments have created both opportunities and challenges for learning the art and science of evaluation, necessitating the development of new understandings and competencies. The presentation will discuss strategies for developing a critical AI literacy that evaluation teachers, students, mentors, mentees, and those pursuing ongoing professional development can use to leverage AI technologies effectively and responsibly, ensuring that the next generation of evaluators is well-equipped to navigate the complex landscape of evaluation in the age of artificial intelligence.
