This opening presentation will summarize the history, foundations, and the broader context for new directions for visualizing program theories in contemporary evaluation practice. A special emphasis will be placed on exploring a wide range of visual examples of the way program theories have been and can be used to improve evaluations and meta-evaluations. Professor Donaldson will also summarize a vision for a better future for theory-driven evaluation practice as presented in his new book Introduction to Theory-Driven Program Evaluation: Culturally Responsive and Strengths-focused Applications (2022).
