The African Peacekeeping Rapid Response Partnership (APRRP) Medical Program is dedicated to reinforcing sustainable, rapid response peacekeeping capabilities in Africa by providing training, strategic support, and guidance to rapidly deploy and sustain a United Nations Level 2 Hospital. Since the inception of the program in 2016, APRRP Medical has implemented over 60 training lines of effort in Rwanda, Uganda, Senegal, and Ghana, and trained over 1,000 students. The evaluation of this effort aims to tell the story of building capability through a long-term U.S. Department of Defense (U.S. DoD) Global Health Engagement (GHE) initiative and outline the challenges, successes, and lessons learned. This was achieved through using a mixed-methods approach that systematically analyzed programmatic documents to identify changes at the individual, organizational, institutional, and community levels for African partners as well as a survey that was deployed to partners to capture their perceptions, experiences, and changes that they’ve experienced since participating in APRRP. This presentation will highlight the collaborative approach that was used to ensure a rigorous evaluation and braiding of stories to create a summative report.
