Our field faces a challenge in understanding and telling the story of peace. Peacebuilding, a field that centers on issues like power, access, and equity, still struggles to put the stories and perspectives of people living in conflict as a top priority in a rigorous approach to understanding impact. Search for Common Ground has led an effort with organizations from around the world to see if setting new framing on what to measure and how can change the stories we tell about peace and how it endures. This discussion will highlight major problems and limitations of current evaluation models, and how the Peace Impact Framework aimed to address them. It will share some of the experiences in the past 4 years from Search and other organizations using the framework, describing how it has shaped how their stories are told, who has the power to tell those stories and contribute to our evidence and knowledge across the field.
