Abstract Information: The goal of this roundtable is to improve evaluation practice by sharing our experiences facilitating online focus groups and incorporating current technology like whiteboards. We will share our story of obstacles and success conducting online focus groups with 3rd-8th grade teachers across the United States using the nominal group technique. We will discuss how we used interactive features such as whiteboards and polling to facilitate discussion of our two primary research questions, to learn about the emotional and behavioral challenges of students since the pandemic and strategies that teachers use in the classroom to address these challenges. We will share how we analyzed the focus group data, including participant generated sticky notes, polling results, and session transcripts. We will encourage roundtable participants to share their experiences conducting online focus groups so we can learn from the larger group. Attendees should learn several strategies from the group to enhance how they conduct online focus groups to improve their evaluation practice.
